HP Prepares first webOS Tablet

There have been plenty of rumours surrounding the webOS Tablet from HP, but as of yet there has not been anything concrete as to what we can expect from such a device and more importantly when it is likely to appear on the shelves of the retailers.



However, that has all changed now, following the announcement from the BMO Capital Markets analyst, Keith Bachman, who has managed to meet up with several Asian tech sources and discovered in the process that OEM Inventec the company rumoured to be building the webOS Tablet will be getting ready for shipping soon.



If this is true then it points to an early 2011 launch, possibly even next month, but the more realistic launch date would be March 2011!

HP / Palm Topaz and Opal webOS tablet

There are first picture of HP / Palm Topaz tablet, which is preparing to release by Hewlett-Packard (HP).



It is known that the HP / Palm Topaz is equipped with 9-inch touchscreen, front camera for video calls, MicroUSB port, and a pair of speakers located on two speakers along the left side and a third on the right.



In addition, there are details of their 7-inch tablet that called the HP / Palm Opal. It will start selling in September 2011 and comes in three models – Wi-Fi version, with 3G modem for AT&T, LTE model for Verizon Wireless. It is noted that PalmOpal will be used as e-book.

iOS 4.3 Revealed: iPad to Get New Multi-Touch Gestures

Looks like Apple’s upcoming iOS version 4.3 features some interesting new capabilities, including more intricate gesture controls. According to the Apple site macstories, iOS 4.3 beta, just released to developers, supports new four- and five-finger gestures. For example, users will be able to pinch to get back to the home screen, swipe sideways to flip through apps, and swipe up with four or five fingers to launch the multitasking tray.

Boy Genius Report is reporting a slew of other features in iOS 4.3, too. These include AirPlay support for third-party apps, a mobile hotspot app like Verizon’s (if the carrier wants it), and a configurable slide switch on the iPad. iAd is also expected to use full-screen banners, basically large format adds.

iPad 2 to have new speakers and a flat back

More rumors about the second generation of iPad flood the internet again. Earlier this month, there were rumors about iPad 2 having two cameras. Now, we have a few new rumors, coming straight from Japan, from the blog MacOtakara. The blog says that the rumors may not be true, but they surely are interesting.

The blog says that the frame or the case of the iPad will shave off 3mm to make it smaller. But the display will be of the same size. The overall dimension of the iPad will be reduced from 242.8mm to 239mm (height) and 189.7mm to 186mm (width). This will surely make a change, will feel kind of small. And another big thing is the rear part of the tablet. We have a bulge at the rear now. The new model is rumored to be flat at the rear. This will be really good.

Now, if the tablet is placed on a table and you try to use it, it wobbles each time you tab on the display. This is completely irritating. Probably, if this particular rumor is true, it will be very good if you are at your study/work table and work on the tablet with one hand and drink coffee with the other. No more wobbling.

The next, and which also would be a very welcome change is of new speakers on the iPad. There is an image showing this off, which is a rendering by Taiyo Fujii for MacOtakara. I’ve added the picture below. This looks good now as the casing is also changed. Also, the speakers are said to me more loud and bigger than the previous model’s. We have to see the performance now.

We also saw in the previous rumor that the next version of the iPad will also have two cameras, one at the back and one at the front. The back camera may be the same camera which is on iPhone 4. The front facing camera, which can be used for video calling and taking self portraits, would probably with a VGA or a 1.3MP camera.

As these still remain rumors, there is another rumor that the second generation iPad is already in the production line and the shipping will start from next month. So Apple can surprise us in any way. Lets hope if not all, most of the rumors get true.

IOS-Ready Pico-Projector Turns Your Phone into a Theater

The SHOWWX+ pico-projector from MicroVision could be the ultimate movie-accessory for your iPad. The laser-projector hooks straight into the dock-connector of your iPad (or other iOS device) and throws an image onto the wall, giving a picture of up to 100-inches. The plus-sign in the name designates that the new projector is 50-percent brighter than its predecessor, so you might be able to get that 100-inch image without closing all the curtains and killing the lights.

The dream is that you can turn an iPhone or iPad into the center of a home-theater setup: a big-screen picture courtesy of the pocket-sized projector, and external, wireless sound thanks to the new AirPlay feature of iOS 4.2 (AirPlay will beam sound that is synced to a movie, something which even the Mac won’t do without third-party software).

One big advantage of the laser projector is that it has “infinite focus”, which means it will work on curved walls, or even give a sharp picture if you haven’t got it perfectly perpendicular to the screen.

Asus Eee Pad EP121 : teaser for CES 2011

Asus now released some more details on the famous Asus Eee Pad EP121, releasing a video teaser. The film reveals some new features of the device and possible presentation at CES 2011.
